My goal is to help you bring your vision to life and create a pattern that reflects your unique style and creativity. With years of experience in the knitting industry, I understand what it takes to create beautiful and functional patterns. Whether you start with a sample and some scribbled notes or have a full schematic and size ranges from the beginning, I can help you write out your idea in a consistent and logical way so that knitters can easily follow it.

What to Expect

You'll receive personalized attention and a collaborative approach when you work with me. I will work closely with you to understand your vision and provide regular updates throughout the writing process to ensure that the final pattern meets your expectations.

• When you work with me, I will adhere to your style sheet and write the pattern as if you had your hands on it the whole time. If you don't have a style sheet or style preference, that's okay. I'll work with you to develop one.

• The pattern will be graded for multiple sizes (if applicable), including yardage requirements for those sizes. I offer grading and pattern writing services for both sweaters and accessories.

• I write the pattern and send it to my tech editor to check it for grading and technical issues.

• The pattern will include necessary charts, schematics, and written directions.

• You'll receive a completed pattern, ready to go straight to testing or launch.

 

I’ve worked with independent knitwear designers and knitting publications as a grader and pattern writer. I have the experience to turn your design into a polished, error-free, publication-ready pattern.

What I Need From You

Before starting the pattern grading process, I'd like to have a 20-minute chat via Zoom with my clients to discuss the following:

​

• A description of your sample size

• Any changes you made to the sample as it relates to your completed pattern (if you have one)

• Gauge measurements taken from the sample

• The size range you would be interested in grading your pattern for

• The size range chart you would like me to refer to (if known)

After reviewing the sample pattern, I will send you my ideas on scaling the sample design to work for multiple sizes and a list of measurements for your approval. I will then grade all the other sizes in a size-inclusive range, adding all the necessary numbers to a spreadsheet.

 

Cost depends on the type of project, size range you’d like to include, and pattern complexity; usually $300-$800 per design. The entire process takes approximately 4-8 weeks from start to finish.
